Background: This study investigated miR-934 and miR-1260a expression in the plasma of patients with cervical cancer (CC) and their prognostic values.
Methods: miR-934 and miR-1260a in the plasma of 100 CC patients, 45 patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), and healthy subjects were detected by RT-qPCR method, and the relationship between miR-934 and miR-1260a expression with clinicopathological characteristics of CC patients was analyzed. Kaplan-Meier and COX hazard regression models were constructed to analyze the prognostic value of miR-934 and miR-1260a in CC.
Results: miR-934 and miR-1260a levels in CC patients were higher than in CIN patients and healthy subjects. Patients exhibiting high levels of miR-934 and miR-1260a experienced shorter progression-free and overall survival than those with lower levels. Clinical stage, lymph node metastasis, depth of invasion, and high miR-934 and miR-1260a were influencing factors of CC patients’ prognosis.
Conclusions: Plasma miR-934 and miR-1260a are closely related to the clinicopathological features and prognosis of CC patients and may be potential markers to predict CC prognosis.
